Does this scenario sound familiar? You’re on a playground committee. You are a school principal, a church member, HOA president, daycare director or fill-in-the-blank committee person. You’ve been searching for hours and hours to find playground equipment your organization would want, can afford, and get installed before a big event or looming deadline. You’ve searched dozens of websites endlessly looking for the perfect playground equipment, and you’re just not finding what you want, or worse, are more confused than when you first started! We get this – a lot.
For the first-timer commercial playgrounds can be daunting. It’s quite a task to find the equipment which will fit your exact location specifications, let alone match your organization’s wish list. Just like the children who will play on them, every playground is unique and usually one of a kind. Why? Well each playground has a site-specific footprint and layout, thus the design elements and equipment will vary from playground to playground, even if it’s the same equipment. Here at Noah’s Park and Playgrounds, we understand commercial-use playgrounds can be overwhelming. Rest assured, playgrounds is what we are all about! We are here to assist you and answer ALL your questions, to look at your site and wish-list, and then assist you and your organization in designing the PERFECT playground for YOUR community.

You might be asking yourself, “Why do I need design help when I can buy products direct from a site without even making a phone call?” Lots of reasons! We work hand-in-hand with architects, landscape architects, city planners, park and recreation departments, schools, churches, HOA’s, developers, property managers and much more to ensure their projects fit their very specific needs. We find most projects have very site-specific situations which need to be addressed; such as landscape situations, lighting, signage, fencing, soil-grading, concrete walk-ways, water features, parking impediments, or existing equipment that needs to be factored into the new play/park area. We even consult about how to determine if your existing equipment needs to be demolished or removed from the site. All too often these factors can be after thoughts – after you’ve made equipment selections or purchases. In our experience, when a client recognizes how much a new park or playground is going to impact their surrounding landscape or existing site, they begin to realize just how much more thought and pre-planning must take place ahead of purchasing anything.
What are the Steps to Creating the Ideal Custom Playground?
Step #1- Create a "wish list" of what you are wanting for your new playground or play area.
Creating a wish list does not mean you have to commit to the equipment or designs we provide. It simply gives you more options when you begin to fit equipment into your site. While creating your wish-list, ask yourself LOTS of questions! ! Ask things like, do you need multiple play structures or independent play items to accommodate the differing age groups? Commercial playground equipment is designed to be age-specific. Ask yourself what kind of surfacing would you like Often your equipment selection helps determine what safety surfacing to use from loose-fill mulch products to pour-in-place solid surfacing. Do you need site furnishing such as picnic tables, benches and trash cans? What about shade. Do you live in a hot, sunny area? Shades can be a phase two or three of a park or playground. The questions might seem endless. No worries. Here at Noah’s we will help you answer every one!
Step #2- Determine who will be using the park or playground.
Ask yourself what ages will be using the equipment, and then look at the age range of the equipment you like. Are your children ages 2-5; 2-12 or 5-12? Do you need to provide ADA Access for special-needs children? How many children will be playing on the equipment?
Step #3- Determine a budget for the entire project.
This can be step one if you’ve been given an amount to spend. Here at Noah’s we will help you understand how to break down the budget for various items from equipment, freight and installation.Noah’s also offers financing and even assist in finding grants or fundraising opportunities locally or nationally.
Step #4- Take measurements of the selected area.
The dimensions of your park or play area are crucial to a successful project. You don’t want to purchase equipment only to find it’s too big or too small for the area. You simply won’t be happy with equipment that is not right for your area and children. Measuring the area is a simple task. If you are not in our immediate area, we use online tools such as Google Earth to look at your site and help you determine how to measure the area. We take into considerations land slope, trees, buildings, sidewalks, parking lots, ADA access points, underground utility lines, existing park or playground equipment and more. You also need to think about the available height of your area, considering lines, roofs, overhangs, trees and more.

Below is an example of a 2-D site plan designed by our in-house designers. The finished product is shown in the photo. The project was for an elementary school in Mustang Oklahoma (Prairie View Elementary). The site plan for this was a very unusual shape. In the end our designers were able to accommodate the customer with a custom structure, swing sets, independent play items, ADA swing, tire swing, safety surfacing, border timbers and more.
Noah's Park & Playgrounds provides a vast selection of items for early childhood playgrounds, ADA accessible playgrounds, and other recreational playgrounds at reasonable prices. We can help whether you are an HOA, childcare center, school district, park/recreation department, or any other type of group.
We also understand that while providing an excellent setting for making childhood memories is important, the actual durability and safety of the overall product is extremely vital and only offer the highest-quality and safest pieces on the market.
