Busy elementary playgrounds and public parks need equipment that can keep children moving while still offering inclusive, sensory-rich play. The Hickory Stick Max Structure is a large red and blue commercial playground equipment system designed for ages 5–12, with bridges, climbers, slides, and activity panels that support both high-energy movement and cooperative play.
Children can travel between elevated areas using two Bones Bridges, where curved sections add challenge while openings provide a clear view from above. A row of four freestanding pod climbers creates another route between platforms, helping build balance, coordination, and confidence. After climbing, children can choose from several slide experiences, including a right-turn tube slide, a spiral slide, and a lower straight double slide for a calmer ride.
The Hickory Stick Max Structure also supports sensory and inclusive play through a Chime Panel, Percussion Panel, and Wheel of Activity. These features encourage rhythm, decision-making, social interaction, and physical engagement for children with different interests and abilities.
As a school playground structure, this design works well where supervisors need multiple activity zones that keep children engaged without relying on one central feature. A practical planning tip is to allow generous circulation space near bridge transitions and slide exits, since children will naturally repeat climbing-and-sliding loops.
The Hickory Stick is described as ADA-compliant, and the full playground site should still be planned around ASTM, CPSC, and ADA accessibility guidelines to support safer surfacing, clear use zones, and accessible routes.
