Music plays an important role throughout all phases of childhood and is extremely beneficial to early child development. It stimulates social, emotional, and intellectual responses in the brain by helping children understand the different sounds and meanings of words. Dancing to music helps young children develop motor skills and strengthens their memory. Infants love short songs and memorable melodies, while toddlers enjoy dancing, singing rhyming songs, and banging on toy drums and xylophones.
Music and art are a great way to connect with young children and help them develop skills that will last a lifetime. Having different musical instruments for toddlers to play with at day care helps develop motor skills by improving hand-eye coordination in children too young to participate in organized sports. Patience is another important trait for kids to develop, and learning to play an instrument is the perfect way to practice overcoming obstacles and discover how to work through problems while building self-confidence. Being able to play an instrument is a skill that a child will carry for a lifetime, and the confidence and pride it engenders is priceless.
